The Gift That Keeps On Giving

March 10, 2010

It is a cliche, I know, but I’ve always felt there was more to Milton Bradley than meets the eye. I was willing to give him a clean slate when he came to play for the Cubs. And now that the Cubs are only part of his history, I still believe he will experience success as a ballplayer. But articles like this do him no good. Instead of breaking down bad associations, the article only reinforces them. Indeed, he is the gift that keeps on giving for Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry. I say that because every time Mr. Bradley opens his mouth he makes Hendry look that much smarter for benching and trading him. And Mr. Bradley’s inability to remain silent is doing nothing for the sterling reputation of the boy-wonder general manager, Jack Zduriencik, who is giving him a second chance. – TL
