FYI–New Faculty Majority: Chicagoland Area Members
The message below appeared in my inbox today. I’m not sure whether I’ll be able to attend, but I want all my adjunct friends in Chicago to know about this meeting and this organization. – TL
Dear NFM Sisters and Brothers,
What an awesome month its been with the reelection of President Obama.
The American electorate has spoken. The battle is far from over. We
must stay politically engaged and fight to get what we want/need from
the next sitting Congress and the President. I will say that I’m very
happy we got President Obama reelected to say the least! There is more
I can say about the election, but I’ll stop here.
The majority of you have spoken by choosing Saturday, December 8 6-8PM
for our first Chicago NFM meet and greet. We will meet at UIC United
Faculty Meeting Room at 850 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite #220 in Greektown.
We can accommodate up to 20 people. So far, 13 have rsvpd. We may get
20 by December 8.
NFM is providing $75 to cover food expense. I’m getting a veggie
platter, wings, hummus, pita bread and paper plates/cups. Please BYOB
wine, beer, soft drink. Please email back and let me know what you
plan to bring as far as drink.
I’m excited about meeting you. There’s so much we can do here in
Chicago to help part-time “contingent” faculty. Our strength comes in
collective empowerment with constant new membership building. I’m
looking forward to Saturday, December 8 and beyond.
