The First-Day Teaching Routine

August 27, 2010

I don’t believe that recorded lectures and two-dimensional discussions capture all that comprises a liberal education. That said, this Chronicle of Higher Education article, by Rob Jenkins, accurately reflects what could be a (mostly) universal opening-day lecture, circa-2005-2010—sans the discussion of syllabus particulars. In other words, this lecture could be recorded a reproduced almost verbatim to all college students in the United States. – TL
