Great Books Chicago 2010

April 27, 2010

Watch the video below for a sound, original take on what it means to read the great books today. Yes, it’s a “production” and meant to promote an annual event called “Great Books Chicago” (April 30-May 2, 2010). Even so, the video does a nice job of parsing perceptions versus reality associated with the great books idea. It stars my friend Daniel Born. He works for the Foundation, but has always been source of frank commentary about the strengths and weaknesses of the great books idea, both historically and today. If I weren’t totally preoccupied job hunting (and hence saving money), I’d go to Great Books Chicago.
