Sad Aside: New Orleans’ Slow Recovery

January 7, 2008

I never enjoy reading columns by the Chicago Sun-Times‘s Jay Mariotti. You might know him from a few ESPN appearances, but his day job involves writing about sports. His writing style is fairly pompous, and his articles tend to deal more in hyperbole than reason.

However, without necessarily “enjoying” his work, today I’m nevertheless a one-day Mariotti fan. Why? See this. If everyone absorbed this column and did something, it might make a difference in how fast New Orleans recovers from the disaster that was Hurricane Katrina. It’s all too clear that history is still weighing on the city. – TL

  1. Tim,
I agree whole-heartedly about Mariotti. Yesterday on Around The Horn he made basically restated his column in brief. That's proof positive that even a blow hard like Mariotti can hit the nail on the head once in a while.
