U.S. Military History: A Tip

November 6, 2007

I found this October 2007 AHR Review Essay, “Military Histories Old and New: A Reintroduction” by Robert M. Citino, to be a fulfilling reflection of its title. But, the survey theme indicated by that title masks something: a significant portion of the piece, perhaps 10 of its 20 pages, deals with books on U.S. military history. In sum, if you feel inadequately educated or informed about that subject, read the article—or store it for posterity. Citino’s piece could be your necessary back study in the construction of a U.S. history course dealing with any war period. – TL
